Big Changes coming to Washington's Guardianship Statute in January 2022

Next New Year’s Day really will be “out with the old and in with the new” as Washington officially discards its 20-year-old guardianship statue for the Uniform Guardianship Act.
Some highlights of the new law:
Enhanced notice requirements, both before and after appointment of a guardian or conservator
Updates to old and mildly offensive language (Never again will we call someone an “Alleged Incapacitated Person!”)
More flexibility for the Courts
The ability to appoint emergency guardians or conservators on an expedited schedule
